Language Proficiency Assessment Registration Process

The following is an explanation of how to register for Language Proficiency Assessments (LPAs) through myMIP.

  1. Visit our website ( Go to Services and click on Medical/Community Interpreter Program (MIP).

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Sign into myMIP.

  3. On the left side of the screen, click on Registration to create an account with Eastern AHEC, Inc. Fill out the form.

  4. After creating an account, you will receive a confirmation/activation email. After receiving the email, you will need to go back and sign in with the username and password that was created.

  5. To register for the Languages Proficiency Assessment test (LPAs), click on the 01 tab, as shown in the screenshot below.

    1. NOTE: The LPAs are made of 3 Components. Two parts are online (Section I and Section II), and the third component is a 25min over-the-phone Oral Assessment.  You must pass all three sections with a score of 80% or more.

  6. Choose your Language Proficiency Assessment Target Language.

    1. NOTE: If your target language is Spanish, you will be registering for Spanish Section I, and will repeat the same process for Spanish Section II. For other Languages you will only need to register once.

  7. After submitting your registration, your LPAs will be for pending approval. It may take up to two business days to be approved. You might contact the Language Services Coordinator to accelerate the process.

  8. After completing the two components online, contact the Language Services Coordinator to scheduler your oral assessment test.

  9. After completing and passing the three tests, you will receive a Letter of Acknowledgment stating that you are both proficient in English and your Target Language.

    1. NOTE: This is not a certificate.


How to Register for the 48hr Interpreting in Health & Community Setting training:

  1. You must passed the LPAs before you can register for the Training.

  2. At your myMIP account and dashboard, choose IHCS Standard Courses.

  3. Choose from the options of Upcoming Trainings and complete the registration.

  4. Complete Training Payment.
